4 Truths to Help Kill a Porn Addiction

by Lonnie Mackley

JN 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Below are just a few truths that can help you to kill the lust that is involved when viewing pornography. By choosing to use these truths you can take a raging obsession for porn and turn it into an episode of immaturity and error that can turn your thinking and hormones back around again. Like Jesus said above, the truth is what will set us free in the end so ask God to give you a better revelation concerning these sexual truths. Remember, it's your spiritual future on the line here and everything we do and think here are being recorded and we will be held accountable for it all later on. So do this for yourself especially and take control of that which has been controlling you. Here are the truths, but ask God to make them real to you.

1. When and if you view a porn picture just realize that the person you are seeing will have to stand before God and see that same picture again in their life-review judgment, along with everyone that viewed the picture and sinned because of it. Do you really want to be part of someone else's judgment like that? Get out of their river of judgment now, and allow others to choose their own fate for themselves. Edit yourself out of others judgment by repenting.

2. When and if you view a porn picture just realize that what you are viewing was designed and created by God Himself, and every time you masturbate to it, or lust after it you are only abusing a creation of God. When you see God's design behind what you are lusting after it kind of takes the lust right out of it, and brings you back to reality. If someone painted you a beautiful picture you would likely not scribble on it or abuse it, so why abuse God's artwork?

3. When and if you view porn just realize that it's actually sex-abuse plain and simple. God's original sexual design was for a married man and woman to have sex for mutual intimacy, pleasure, and to create children; it was never meant for anything beyond this. Body misuse and pleasure abuse is what pornography is really about, and you must choose to treat sex according to its original intent and design or face the consequences for breaking those laws.

4. Once something is loaded into your brain, you cannot get it back out again; so the more you view, the more you will have to face in your thoughts later on. It's just like a computer where your hard-drive accumulates all kinds of data both good and bad. Porn is like a mental and spiritual mind virus that can pop up and defile your thinking at some of the worst times, (not to mention ruin your ability to become normally sexually aroused). Less is best.

RO 14:12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

I remember many years ago when I had a serious problem with a porn addiction. I was in a river rafting accident and trapped under a log jam with no way to breathe. All I could think about under there was my porn addiction and how I was not ready to meet the Lord like that. I did finally pop up out of the log jam due to a miracle and my first breath was, "Thank you God!". I knew that I had been given another chance to turn away from my addiction and start over again. Although I still struggled with it, in time God began to talk to me and show me the truth about what my future would be if I did not start taking things more seriously. Then one night something happened that kind of shocked me into making a more genuine effort.

REV 3:19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.

While praying in bed one night and crying out to God about my porn problem I had a vision of many people marching in a valley to their judgment, and I was part of the crowd. Some of these people were nearly nude and you could tell they were porn actors in life. I saw Jesus standing on a hillside and I cried out to Him, "Jesus, I am not supposed to be here, I am a Christian!". Jesus seemed to not hear me, and just as the crowd was pushing me past Him He looked straight at me and without His lips moving I heard Him say, "Unless you repent in earnest, you too will face the same judgment as these others", then the vision ended. After that I got help for real. So allow God's truth to set you free today, and find genuine freedom.

LK 12:45 But suppose the servant says to himself, `My master is taking a long time in coming,' and he then begins to beat the menservants and maidservants and to eat and drink and get drunk. 46 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
