Spirit-Led Weight-Loss

RO 8:12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

If you are sick of trying diets that don't work for very long; sick of exercising half to death to bring your weight down only to have it crawl back up again to your old set point; and sick of craving certain types of foods where we finally end up either starving or binging ourselves, then there is way to actually lose your excess weight and to keep it off for good. Do you know how to do it? It's the Holy Spirit weight loss plan and its designed especially for you. It's where you invite the Holy Spirit to give you His weight loss plan and then begin following His daily direction and leadership, and you know what? It totally works every time.

JN 14:26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Just like Spirit-led recovery from addiction works, so does Spirit-led weight-loss, or Spirit-led anything for that matter. You see, the Holy Spirit knows everything about you, your mind body, soul, and what you actually need to lose all your excess weight. He also knows what kind of diet and exercises program would work for you best, what kind of healing that you need to not eat to soothe unhealed emotional pain, and what physical healing that you need that has been causing your body to gain weight. The Holy Spirit is the Master teacher and counselor so you can count on Him to give you a weight-loss plan that really works for you.

1TI 4:8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

Remember though that this is about allowing the Holy Spirit to take control of your diet and health care, it is not about creating a diet that you give to someone else to help them lose weight in the same way as you, because God's plan for you probably wouldn't work for someone else. So as the pounds come off and people notice just promote the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and not the plan that He gave you. The biggest way that we miss it is that we keep wrestling for the steering wheel of our life with God, rather than just letting Him drive and going along for the ride. He knows the road much better we do, so just let Him drive.

RO 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.

The main problem that most of us have is the "we" want to be the one in control so we try everything under the sun to accomplish our goals and it's usually only when we fail enough times, and finally give up in exasperation that we ask and allow God to truly come in and help us. When Jesus Christ God's Son is allowed to come in and help us we get set free fully and permanently, not just partially or temporarily. So I want to invite you today my friend to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give you His specific weight-loss plan for you. What have you go to lose except a lot of weight, unhealed emotional pain, and physical ailments?

JN 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Here is a prayer to pray if you need it:

"Dear God, I ask that you would come into my heart and fill me full and overflowing with your Holy Spirit. I give you full management and leadership over the health and care of my human body from now on, and ask that you would give me a specific plan to lose all of my excess weight. I repent and ask your forgiveness for every way that I have been disobedient in the care of my body and in my eating habits, and I invite you in right now Lord to change anything that needs to be changed in how I live and eat. Thank you God for helping me and I promise to give you all of the glory for every pound that I lose and for all of the other good things that you do to help and heal me. In Jesus name I ask and pray these thing, amen."
