The Secret Of Staying Free

JN 8:34 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

I want to tell you the secret of not only getting free from your addiction, but also staying free from it forever. I remember the constant relapses, the countless meetings, and the endless apologies that I had to make to people and I felt so weary, hopeless, and helpless to change anything. I felt that there just had to be something more in order to get free from addiction so I cried out to God to show me, and He did. If you listen to what I'm about to tell you, then you will be on the road to living free and no longer being a slave to your addiction.

JN 8:31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

The secret to staying free from all addiction for good is knowing the truth about the pain    that fuels your addiction, letting God heal that pain, and then walking in the truth about how God created things to work properly in life and continually living obediently to that truth. I've lived it, it works. You see, it's the lies about ourselves, others, God, and life that keeps us bound to fear and a need to feel in control, so getting a revelation of the truth and then living in that truth is what kills the power of the lies in our life. God's truth sets and keeps us free.

JAS 1:14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

When we use our minds to fantasize and think about the pleasure of our addiction we give power to that lie and soon we will go and do it. When we understand the truth about God's creation and how we need to to think about and live obediently to that truth, then we get on the road to health and normality, and things change for the better. Unless we are willing to live in the truth the lie will always win in the end because truth is not ruling in our hearts to counteract it. Only the truth during a time of temptation can get you through withdrawals.

RO 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Are you sick of receiving paychecks of death? Addiction is like eating a delicious pie that has poison baked into it. It tastes sweet, but it slowly makes you sick and eventually kills you if you keep eating it. The ingredients that pie was baked with are lies. We believe that we are unprotected in life so we take a bite of the pie, we believe that we can treat our own unhealed emotional pain so we take another bite and eat more death. When Jesus comes with His truth, that truth begins to neutralize all those lies so they can no longer poison us.

GAL 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Standing firm means learning the truth by reading your bible, and receiving truth through teachings like this. So fill up your mind and heart with the truth and speak it out and use it when you are tempted to go back to the old lies. God will replace the unhealthy pleasure in your life with healthy pleasure as you trust Him to help you. Because of this secret I have lived truly free from all addiction for many years now, and I was a hard core hopeless case. Let God's truth set you free today my friend and help you to stay free from addiction forever.

3JN 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
