JN 8:34 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave
has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
When you have an addiction in your life it gives you the illusion that it is your servant meant to
make your life better and happier, but the truth of it is that it makes you its slave in a very short while. Anyone who has
struggled with addiction for any time knows what I am talking about. Your addiction progressively takes over your finances,
relationships, health, family, and legal status in society and it drives you day and night to make sure it is well fed and
given everything it wants to take from you.
A typical day of addiction consists of getting up feeling like garbage both physically and emotionally;
trying to find, secure and hide your fixes all day by lying, cheating, and manipulating everyone; partaking of your addiction
and feeling normal or good for a very short period; passing out and then starting the whole hellish cycle the next day while
more and more of your life is eaten and taken away from you. Your addiction may have helped you at first but now it turns
out to be 1% pleasure and 99% pain.
If you are sick of allowing a plant, chemical, or habit be your boss then just get mad enough to finally
say "That's it, I've had enough!". It is your life given to you to live and it doesn't belong to anyone or anything else.
In the end you have to stand before God alone and give an account for your life and your addiction will be long gone. The
same evil spirits that drove you to addiction will not stand up and tell God that it was all their fault. Let the Son set
you free today and end the slavery to addiction in your life.
MT 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke
upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is
easy and my burden is light."
ISA 1:18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they
shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.
