Most of us who have had addictions in our lives have also had a lot of trauma and unhealed emotional pain in our lives that we have mistakenly tried to relieve with pleasure. On one hand you could look at us as damaged goods, but guess what? Everyone has been damaged by sin in one form or another, and depending on whether you let God help you or not, this damage can either become your shame or your fame, it's really all up to you.

God deliberately looks for those who have been damaged in life because He wants to show Himself mighty through what He does to help heal and restore them once again. You may have lost everything because of addiction, but when you truly surrender your mess to God it can then become your message. You are not damaged goods at all my friend, you are an opportunity to become a trophy of God's goodness and grace, so lift your head high.

HEB 4:16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
