Becoming willing to return to reality once again

When we are trapped in an addiction we leave reality and live in a fantasy world where everything becomes twisted and distorted from what is actually considered normal according to God's original design. Sex becomes something we do with a TV screen or a stranger rather than with a loving marital partner, drugs become our emotional controller and comforter rather than God or family, and food becomes the friend and companion that makes us feel better about all that has been hurting and haunting us. I could go on and on but you get the point. We are meeting legitimate needs in illegitimate (fake) ways and never really finding any true satisfaction or lasting relief through them. Addiction is a band-aid that never allows your wounds to heal. Addiction is a lie that we believe that keeps us stuck in the darkness of a fantasy world that we can never escape from by ourselves. But God wants to help you today to escape and to return to reality where true healing, and happiness await you.

We must become willing to return to reality again and come back to what God says is normal. Sex must once again be done legally through a spouse or just abstained from if necessary, drugs must only be used to relieve and treat legitimate medical problems rather than something we use to kill emotional pain, and food must once again become fuel for our bodies rather than an emotional pacifier. The reason it is so important for us to be willing to return to reality is that we will all face a judgment in the end based on the reality God has said we are to live by according to His word in the bible. It doesn't matter how deceived we allow ourselves to become, we will all face reality one day so it is much better to be willing to face it now under your own power rather than under the power of someone else when it is too late to change.

Trust that as you tell God that you are willing to leave your fake fantasy world that His reality will bring the true healing and lasting peace you have been seeking but not finding through addiction. We chose to escape reality years ago because of a deep fear of life caused by trauma, and we must be willing to trust God again to heal our wounded souls from the terrible things that happened to us in order to recover. This is your day to say no more to your fake world of darkness and lies, and this is your day to step into the light and truth once again. God has not left you no matter how far you have run away and He is standing right in front of you with open arms to receive you back into His loving embrace once again. Never forget that all your answers lie in God and looking for them anywhere else is just a waste of time. True happiness and lasting peace are yours today if your are willing to come back to reality and live again.
