GE 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in
the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, "Where
are you?"
Normally when we give in to addiction we run away from God and everyone else so that we can use without
being bothered or feeling guilty. But the problem is that you need God to help to get free from addiction, so running away
from Him just cuts you off from making any progress toward freedom. God loves you whether you relapse or not and if you are
going to stumble you might as well do it while you are holding one of His hands. If your child was going down a road that
led to death wouldn't you want them to reach out to you so that you could help them while they were struggling?
MT 18:12 "What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he
not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, I tell you the
truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father
in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.
No matter how far you have run from God He is still calling out to you today. He has been walking
by saying "Where are you?" because He loves you dearly and He is not waiting to bop you over the head for what you are doing,
He actually wants to help you just because He loves you. The Holy Spirit needs to teach you as you walk through your addiction
about what has been fueling it so try to run to God rather than away from Him even if you are practicing your addiction. Cry
out to God today and know that His hand is being held out to you right now. He will never leave or forsake you.
DT 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake
you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
