What's So Wrong With Porn?

You may have asked yourself this question once or twice, or heard someone else say it, but there are definite problems that pornography creates when you partake of it that you should be aware of. We were all created to be aroused sexually by the form of our unclothed mate so that we could enjoy our spouse and create children. That's all that sex was ever meant to be, but Satan has exploited this natural desire and perverted it into something unnatural through pornography. The damage and cost that pornography causes can be huge so I will just list the different ways that pornography effects most humans that engage in it. Most of us could easily add more to this list.

1. It generates lust which will need to be fulfilled either through masturbation or usually some other form of sexual perversion. Even if you did have sex with your spouse after viewing porn it would be the porn that would be generating most of the lust, not them.

2. You can't get the images out of your head once you view them. The pictures stay in your head forever and they pop into your brain at some of the worst possible times. Plus, all sex will tend to be filtered through the porn that we have stored in our head.

3. It can ruin you sexually. After viewing porn enough you may no longer get sexually aroused by your mate anymore and need porn to get aroused. This can create terrible marital problems if your mate knows you only get aroused by porn, and not by them.

4. It can ruin your marriage and other relationships. Most mates view pornography as a form of cheating and marital unfaithfulness, so they might just divorce you. After the divorce everyone finds out about what you did including the church and even your kids.

5. It can fuel a perversion problem. If you already have sexually abnormal desires, viewing porn is like throwing gasoline on the fire. Especially if those desires are violent they can build up in someone to the point of acting out and possibly hurting a person.

6. It can attract evil spirits. There are evil spirits of pornography, lust, and sexual perversion that can get a real hold on your life from viewing pornography, and they will push you to go ever deeper into perversion to gratify their twisted desires through you.

7. It can cost you your soul. Jesus said that the sexually immoral don't make it to heaven, so there is only one other place to go after that. And He wasn't just talking about non-Christians, He was talking about Christians that have sexual sin as well.

I don't believe in scaring people away from addiction but I do believe in telling people the truth because it is the truth that will set you free in the end. I hated being trapped in sexual sin, but I honestly felt like there was no way to ever get free of it. I want to encourage you today that God will help you to get free from pornography and even help to heal the damage that it has caused if you will ask Him to. You may not even really want to stop viewing porn but by just asking God to help you, you can then start moving forward to eventual freedom. Internet porn addiction is an epidemic especially amongst Christians, so shake off the shame, and just start fresh with God right now.

Here is a prayer to pray if you need it:

"Dear God, you have seen all of the pornography that I have viewed and all the things that I have done while viewing it, and I just ask that you would forgive me for all of it right now in Jesus name. I ask for your help this day Lord to overcome this terrible problem and I just surrender my life to you completely in order for you to help me. Thank you for forgiving me and helping me to get free. In Jesus name I pray, amen".

Some scriptures to help you:

ISA 1:18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

HEB 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
