The Power Of Confession

When you have practiced an addiction for a long time the last thing you usually want to do is to have to tell someone about it because you don't want people to think less of you or reject you, but in order to recover from your addiction you will eventually have to drag it out from the darkness and into the light by confessing it openly to someone else. I know that this may sound like a terrifying thing to have to do but you might be surprised at how much lighter your load will be when you do not have to keep trying to hide your addiction all the time. As you know by now, hiding an addiction is very hard work and it wears you down both physically, mentally, and spiritually.

PS 32:3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Selah 5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you  and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"-- and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

King David had been hiding an adulterous affair and the murder of this woman's husband from everyone and it ate at him day and night. Ever feel that way? We who have been trapped in an addiction have to go to bed at night in fear that we may not wake up and have to face God with all our hidden spiritual crimes intact; it is not fun way to live. I want to encourage you today to just openly talk to God about what has been going on and ask Him to bring someone else into your life to confess your sins to because you need to do it in order to recover. Addiction works best in the dark so drag into the light today and take its power away to control you. God will forgive you.

1JN 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (All means all no matter how terrible the sin is).

JAS 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

JN 3:21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
