The Lie Of Temporary Relief
2CO 4:17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs
them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen
is eternal.
When we are going through withdrawals, everything within us screams for just a little bit of temporary
relief. The problem is, that when we keep gratifying those desires, it is no longer just temporary relief, but long term addiction.
Withdrawal is a bridge that we must all cross to overcome our addiction, it is unavoidable and inevitable, and there is no
way to avoid it. So we have a choice, we can either keep giving in when we are having withdrawal symptoms and indulge in our
addiction once again, or we can believe that there is freedom at the end of this temporary pain that will end all this madness
once and for all. I just want to encourage you today that if you are hurting right now because you are going through withdrawals
to just ask God to help you to get through each wave of craving. God knows how much your old addiction has been nagging and
gnawing at you, and He will help you through it if you pray.
