Living With Too Much Pain

PS 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Sometimes bad things happen in life and it can create a lot of emotional pain that just keeps building up until all the circuit breakers of our heart start to pop and we finally just shut down. We can put ourselves through a certain amount of pain for a while, but sooner or later it will all start forcing its way to the surface and demand that we start dealing with it. You may be one of these people that have experienced one heartbreak after another until now your heart feels permanently broken and you have given up on trying to live a normal life and now you have chosen to try to escape all your excess pain with some form of addiction.

The problem with trying to use an addiction to treat unhealed emotional pain is that it is always just a temporary relief that deadens the pain slightly, but never really heals it, and actually just creates more pain because the addiction creates more fresh pain to add to the old pain. The only way to start getting rid of all the old pain is to just lay it all at God's feet and to let Him start helping you to heal it. He knows what is really bothering you and He can start working you through it if you will let Him. Addiction is like trying to cure your cancer with a band-aid, it won't heal anything. Let God help you to stop living with too much pain.

1PE 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
