Leaving your past in the past

When you have made the decision to fully and finally face life without your old addictions you will have to face the pain of your past without the pain relievers that used to keep everything covered up and pushed down inside. This will feel almost unbearable at first but you will make progress through your pain rather than just covering it up as usual if you are willing to let the past go for good. This means that you will need to allow the Lord to help you to sort out your old pain and get rid of it through forgiveness and accepting the truth in place of the lies that kept you bound.

There will be times even after you have dealt with your old unhealed emotional pain when you may feel tempted to let your past resentments and bitterness' back into your heart and when and if this occurs you must repeat the truth about what God says to yourself and just press on with your new life. Letting old pain back into your new life will just drive you back to pain relievers so be willing to forgive afresh as often as necessary when old pain comes knocking at the door of your heart. This may also include forgiving God and especially yourself for past failures and losses.

Remember my friend that God loves you dearly and even though you may not be able to go back and change the past, you can choose how you react to it in your present today. Trust that God has always been fair to you in every situation and that He has only your best interests in mind for every decision that He makes in your life. You have a life to live and you need to live in the now and let go of all that hinders your progress to live free from addiction. This is your day to stand up and to live free from everything that used to keep your down. Keep your past in your past and remain free from addiction today.

LK 21:34 "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."
