"I'm the exception, and it's impossible"

"I'm the exception, and it's impossible" are two of the biggest lies that Satan tries to throw at us when we are struggling to recover from addiction. I just want to tell you the truth today; there are no exceptions to who can get set free, and all things possible with God. We must remember that our recovery from addiction does not depend on our ability, but rather upon our availability to cooperate with God's plan every day.

LK 18:27 Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."

1CO 6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Did you catch the last part of the above scripture? God took all these impossible cases and helped them to get free. There are no impossible cases for God. We get free by surrendering completely to God's management of our life, rather than us keep trying to fix things and failing over and over again. Your recovery doesn't depend on what you can do, but rather what God can do. Our efforts tend to just get in the way and keep us hindered, but we think that if we give up that things will just get worse. God works through your being submitted to Him, not by you trying to fix it all yourself.

JAS 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Remember my friend, that there is always hope through God and that there are no impossible cases for Him. We only fail in life when we refuse to turn to God for His help and keep trying to fix ourselves by ourselves. Accept God's help today and be willing to let go of your pleasure idols. In the end, you will give an account for yourself and the choices you made while on earth, so make good and right choices now. There will be no excuses for people that choose their sin over God's help, so no matter what has happened to you, or what you are now facing, trust in God to do what you cannot.
