Hurting people, hurt people

LK 6:27 "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

If you are having a hard time forgiving people for what they did wrong to you in life just try to remember that people that are hurting tend to lash out in anger and hurt other people. Your parents, spouse, friends, or someone else may have said or done some terrible things to you, but what has their life been like? What happened to them to cause such a wound that they felt they had to protect themselves by putting up a wall of anger and revenge? It pays to find out someones history of pain in life because most people mistakenly repeat what was done to them in order to protect themselves.

MT 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

I used to have a dog that I loved and one day that dog got hit by a car in front of our house. When I ran out into the street to help the dog it bit me and the only reason it did that was because it was in so much pain that it didn't want anyone close to it touching it. People can be the same way and once you understand that it can be much easier to be more patient with them. In order for you to overcome your addiction you are going to have to forgive everyone that hurt you so pray for these people and find out what hurt them. Once you forgive you lessen your pain and won't pass it on.

COL 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
