Fake God-Real God

2CO 6:16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

You might wonder after you finally get free from all your addictions what you will turn to when you feel in need. From the very beginning we were all created to need God and when we don't really have Him feeding us spiritually in our life we will always look for something else to fill that hole in our soul. Idols (addictions) are just fake God and it is only natural that when we are lacking the genuine, that we will automatically look for a suitable substitute.

PS 145:14 The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. 16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

When we get rid of our fake gods of addiction, we must then replace them with the real God or we will just find some new fake god to fill that void again. Reading the bible, praying, worshiping, and just interacting with God everyday can meet our needs very well. Plus you can be baptized with His Holy Spirit for even more of Him. I don't know about you, but I really needed as much of God as I could get, because I was always addicted to something.

EPH 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

Do you see the contrast in the scripture above? We as humans will usually either be filled with addictions which never fully satisfy and destroy our lives, or we will be filled with God which will satisfy us and make our lives better. It may sound like a no-brainer, but we tend to want to be in control of our pleasure, so we don't want to ask God for it. God wants you to be addicted to Him alone, so seek Him and find what you are truly needing in life from Him.

MT 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

If you are sick of your fake gods and you want the real God in your life, below is a prayer that you can pray, and if you mean it, He will indeed come in and be your real God.

"Dear God, I ask that you would come into my life and be my real God. Please forgive me for everything that I have ever done that was wrong in your sight, and cleanse me this day from all sin that I have ever committed. I receive the sacrifice of Jesus Christ upon the cross for my sins, and I thank you for dying in my place. Help me also Lord to get rid of all the fake gods that have been controlling and ruining my life. I would also ask you Lord that you would fill and baptize me with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name I ask and pray, amen".

REV 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

1JN 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
